  • Education is a basic Human Right and the Diaspora World Cup global school program focuses its energy in some the poorest countries around the world. We build schools in some of the poorest countries around the worldthat historically had no adequate school structure. Any member of the World Diaspora has the power to end illiteracy around the world through the power of soccer.

Desde su independencia el 1 de enero de 1960, el Camerún ha priorizado cada vez más el desarrollo de la educación y la erradicación del analfabetismo como una estrategia de promoción del desarrollo y de empoderamiento social. Al mismo tiempo, durante las últimas cinco décadas, nuestro sistema escolar se ve inevitablemente afectado por los entornos sociales y económicos en los que operan. Por ejemplo, la pobreza de los hogares obliga a muchos niños a abandonar la escuela y al empleo, y los roles de género pueden significar que las niñas son removidas de la escuela para recoger agua o cuidar de sus hermanos.

Conseguir que todos los niños tengan acceso a la educación requiere esfuerzos enfocados para eliminar las barreras que impiden que los niños y las familias puedan priorizar la educación. Las niñas tienen cuatro veces más probabilidades de no asistir a la escuela que los niños del mismo nivel según la UNESCO. Además, 588.000 niños no están escolarizados en Camerún según la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud. El matrimonio infantil es omnipresente en las comunidades donde la pobreza es generalizada y la pobreza lleva a millones de niños al trabajo infantil. La falta de acceso a la educación perpetúa un ciclo de explotación, analfabetismo y pobreza. Hay mucho más que hacer para llegar a los niños más marginados de la región y proporcionar a los padres incentivos escolares adecuados para mantener a los niños - especialmente las niñas - en la escuela para ayudar a mitigar los efectos del analfabetismo. Estos desafíos se complican aún más por el hecho de que a menudo nos falta infraestructura. Daunting como la escala de la crisis en la educación puede ser, muchas de las soluciones están al alcance. La gente de la Diáspora Mundial está tomando la iniciativa. Tenemos un objetivo sin precedentes en la Copa Mundial de la Diáspora para mejorar significativamente la situación en Camerún.
