  • Education is a basic Human Right and the Diaspora World Cup global school program focuses its energy in some the poorest countries around the world. We build schools in some of the poorest countries around the worldthat historically had no adequate school structure. Any member of the World Diaspora has the power to end illiteracy around the world through the power of soccer.

    Mrs. Haoua Diatta

    Founder and CEO Microcredit in Africa

    Diaspora World Cup Global Ambassador
    Mrs. Haoua Diatta has been working in the international development field for more than 15 years. She founded and became the executive director of Micro Credit in Africa (MICA) as well as spearheading and expanding various other humanitarian projects in West Africa. She has worked on HIV-andmalaria-prevention, helped develop agribusiness and environmental efforts through micro-credit. Her support of young orphans has helped them develop skills—such as sewing and soap-making—they can use to support themselves.Mrs. Diatta’s work in rural communities across Sub-Saharan Africahas provento be not only successful but life-changing.

    In the United States, Mrs. Diatta chaired the White House’s Africa Education Initiative from 2005 to 2009 and currently serves as a consultant with the Department of State Foreign Service Institute.
    She is married to his Excellency Ambassador Joseph Diatta, the former Ambassador of Niger, in Washington, D.C., and published a book in 2004 about her experiences traveling the world during his assignments (Shadow of Africa: The Life of an African Ambassador’s Wife).
    ACTIVITIES AND AWARDS
    2008: Recipient of the Ann C. Michel International Women in Literacy Award at ProLiteracy's annual meeting 2004: Author of ''Shadow of Africa: The Life of an African Ambassador's Wife'', a highly recommended reading by the Montgomery County School System
    2002-2005: President of the Ambassadors’ Spouses of West African Nations Association (ECOWAS) 2002: Recipient of the Shirley Alexander Hart Humanitarian Award by the Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows 1999: Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the President of the Microcredit Summit Campaign, Sam Daley-Harris 1994-1999: Red Cross Volunteer, through the Randolph Lions Club Association in Maryland
    1995: Member and President (2001-2003) of the African and American Women Association in Washington, D.C.
