Playing on the Water
New York Magazine names Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park the best new park in New York City. At the recently opened Pier 5, there are netted-in sports fields including soccer that seem to float in the East River, two playgrounds, designated fishing areas and bait-prep tables, and a picnic peninsula with big, beautiful salvaged-wood tables shaded by brilliant blue umbrellas. It simply makes you feel like playing on the water. After the game, and it's time to eat something and working up an appetite, visit Picnic Peninsula for a barbecue with family and friends
