Hyattsville is a commuter community to a downtown district and eclectic events
Originally settled in the late 1800s as a Washington, D.C., streetcar suburb, Hyattsville has been a commuter hub ever since. Today, the suburb's 21,000 residents make the 8-mile trip southwest via several direct thoroughfares and the Metro Green Line. There are tons of new housing and restaurants in the Gateway Arts District, and there are some great community events, like the arts festival and the zombie run.
Two miles from the Washington, D.C. border is Langley Park, a Maryland community in an ongoing period of rejuvenation. Langley Park is a very old community that has become a very diverse community. There’s a pretty good amount of development planned for and currently in the works. Langley Park is also a suburb with beer bars, dense parklands and country clubs. Locals visit the farmers market on the weekends, enjoy the area’s many walking trails and parks and watch live performances at the theater.
