We build schools in some of the poorest countries around the worldthat historically had no adequate school structure. Any member of the World Diaspora has the power to end illiteracy around the world through the power of soccer.

What we learned from England loss 5-1 to Tanzania.

Tanzania Produces a Major Result Against England

Here are some quick thoughts after the England lost to Tanzania 5-1 at Walker Stadium on Sunday June 2nd in group game action. The Diaspora team of England always thought they would not have their hands full against a Tanzanian squad. Observers believed England team was under no pressure to really prepare for the game, after watching Liberia pounded Tanzania 5-1 at the Roy Lester Stadium two weeks ago. The disillusion was short lived at the beginning of the game when Tanzania began by unfurling the kind of aggressive, intelligent, flowing football England craves. The England team appeared shell-shocked, and it took just 15 minutes for them to fall behind by two goals. Before the game, many believed and for that matter claimed the game offered a chance to test players who have opportunities to prove things to the public. After the game, most of what we learned was negative for England and positive for Tanzania. The Diaspora World Cup

Tanzania Rediscovers Its Attacking Spirit

One of the clearest themes surrounding Tanzania was its attacking identity. Contemporary coverage described the team as previously being associated with attractive attacking soccer and good technical ability.

 

A convincing result against England would have allowed Tanzania to restore some of that confidence and give its players and supporters renewed belief in the team's potential.

England Faces a Difficult Lesson

A heavy defeat can expose weaknesses that need to be addressed. For England, the reported 5–1 result highlighted the importance of defensive organization, concentration and responding effectively when an opponent gains momentum.

Tanzania Produces a Major Result Against England

Tanzania's supporters had already been an important part of the team's identity. Contemporary coverage noted that Tanzanian fans had repeatedly helped the team achieve strong attendance at group and knockout-stage games.

 

The reported victory over England would therefore have been an especially memorable moment for the community supporting the Tanzanian side. It represented a positive response after a period in which the team had struggled to produce the results expected from its players and coaching staff.
